Independence Monument
Znajdujący się w centralnym punkcie parku pomnik ku czci walczących o wolność i niepodległość. Przebudowany w 2019 roku z okazji 100. rocznicy odzyskania przez Polskę Niepodległości i zwycięskiego Powstania Wielkopolskiego. Zajął miejsce obelisku Bohaterów II Wojny Światowej. Dawny monument, poświęcony pamięci żołnierzy poległych w latach 1939-45 w walce z faszystami, budził kontrowersje i dzielił mieszkańców. Powstałej w 1965 roku budowli zarzucano gloryfikację wrogich sowieckich wojsk. Nowy pomnik, ozdobiony wizerunkiem orła stanowi symbol wolności i suwerenności Ojczyzny.
Im zentralen Punkt des Stadtparks wurde 2018, zum 100. Jubiläum der Wiedererlangung der Unabhängigkeit des Staates ein Denkmal zur Ehre der Kämpfenden um Polens Freiheit und Unabhängigkeit errichtet.
Es entstand an der Stelle des ehemaligen Helden des Zweiten Weltkriegs-Denkmals, das für viele Stadtbewohner umstritten war. Zwischen den Helden, die in den Jahren 1939-1945 gegen Nazis kämpften, wurden nämlich auch sowjetische Soldaten genannt. Von vielen Einwohnern war das im Jahre 1965 errichtete Denkmal als Glorifizierung der feindlichen sowjetischen Armee verstanden.
Erst das neue Denkmal in der Form eines Gedenksteines mit dem gekrönten Adel (die Darstellung aus dem Wappens aus der Zwischenkriegszeit) wurde zum wahren Symbol Polens und seiner staatlichen Unabhängigkeit.
Located in the centre of the park, a monument to the fighters for independence and freedom. Rebuilt in 2019 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence and the victorious Wielkopolska Uprising. The monument took the place of the obelisk of World War II Heroes. The former monument, dedicated to the memory of soldiers killed in 1939-45 in the fight against the fascists, aroused controversy and divided the local community. The obelisk, which was built in 1965, was accused of glorifying hostile Soviet troops. The new monument, decorated with the image of an eagle, is a symbol of freedom and sovereignty of the Homeland.
